Slow marketing is a lovely idea – but how do you make it work? Here are our top tips.
We believe that marketing should feel really easy and not stressful. So our focus is always on simplicity. Not lots of acronyms to confuse you, or long-winded methods, or numerous complicated tech systems to overcome. Less is more.
1.Know your customer
Your target audience isn’t just a check mark on a marketing plan – it’s the glue that makes your messaging stick.
- Who are they?
- What are they looking for?
- Where are they making their purchasing decisions?
- And why?
Your target audience isn’t always your actual customer so it’s worth reviewing. We recommend you do some targeted outreach – and we can help!
2. Find out where your audience is
Stop to find out what your sweet spot is.
- What platform or channels is actually generating high-quality leads that convert into sales?
- Which keywords and messages sing to your customer?
Recycle and keep using what works in different ways to stay memorable. Need some help identifying that? We’re here for you.!
3. Invest and work with really good content writers
You don’t want any of this mass copy that sounds like it’s written by a school child or an AI bot.
You want someone who really understands key messaging and can create highly tailored, personalised campaigns.
Someone who does the research and doesn’t just jump on the bandwagon of trends.
Who understands the right tone, style, and length for what you’re trying to achieve.
Someone who knows that timing is everything. (Oi! Over here!).
4. Don’t just sell – add value
People don’t want to be sold to all the time. They are seeking meaning, either through education, entertainment, or inspiration – or a mix of all three!
If you show that you’re intentional with what you do, your customer is more likely to make intentional choices.
5. Stop cheating your audience and yourself
Don’t engage in blackhat marketing: clickbait, keyword stuffing, cloaking, paid links, hidden text. It never actually works.
Be honest. Build trust.
The best brands underpromise but overdeliver. Good brand reputation is everything.
6. Success isn’t and shouldn’t always be public
Dubbed dark social, some of the best content is direct to your customer and completely skips the public show: think private emails, direct messages, texts.
This is where the magic lies.
